Vetter is a nationally recognized expert on perioperative medicine and value-based healthcare. While at UAB, Vetter lead the development of a pioneering Perioperative Surgical Home. Vetter is currently Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the preeminent journal, Anesthesia & Analgesia. He has published extensively in outcomes research and topics such as comparative effectiveness.

Steven Schulman is an authority and a national speaker on value based protocols including Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and the Perioperative Surgical Home (PSH). Under his leadership, his team has demonstrated the ability of these initiatives to significantly lower length of stay, readmissions, post-operative ventilation as well as blood and skilled nursing facility utilization.

Kain is a thought leader in Orthopedic Value based care and an international expert on Perioperative Surgical Home and enhanced recovery. He is also a national leader in perioperative digital health. He previously served as Chair of Anesthesiology and Associate Dean of Clinical Operations Officer in UC Irvine Health.

Dr. Hennessey’s Clinical areas of study include early mobility and delirium management of critically ill patients as well as patient-family interaction in the ICU. She currently serves as the Program Director of the Anesthesia Critical Care Medicine Fellowship and as the Rotation Director for the Critical Care Core Clerkship at Stanford School of Medicine. Her medical education interests include simulation, flipped-classroom models, quality-improvement training for trainees, methods of assessment, and patient-doctor communication skills.

Dr. Grant received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and proceeded to obtain his Residency from Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut. Dr. Grant is an international expert in hospital medicine, perioperative medicine, venous thrombolytic diseases.

Prior to joining the Henry Ford Health System, Dr. Peruzzi served as Chief Medical Officer for the Alameda Health System in Oakland California; Vice Chief Medical Officer for the University of Miami Hospital; Executive Medical Director & Service Line Executive for Critical Care Services at the University of Miami , Health System; and Professor & Chief of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Chris Steel is a Board Certified anesthesiologist practicing medicine in Arkansas. Dr. Steel received his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. He completed his Residency at Penn State University. Dr. Steel is the Director of Anesthesiology at White River Health System in Arkansas.

Dr. Englesbe obtained his medical degree in 1997 from the RWJ Medical School and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Michigan Health System. Dr. Englesbe completed a two year fellowship in multi-organ transplant surgery. His research and policy interests include peri-operative optimization of patients for major surgery. He has funding from several sources for this work.

Dr. Cheng’s main clinical interest is the medical care of surgical patients, including preoperative medical evaluation and the prevention and management of postoperative medical complications. He directs the Medicine Consultation Service at UCSF Medical Center, which performs these functions in a traditional consultation role. This service also coordinates care with consultants, physician extenders, and ancillary services.
